At NMC Wellness Group, we are committed to supporting your mental health and safety. However, our services are designed for scheduled outpatient care and are not intended for emergency or crisis situations.

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or are concerned about your immediate safety, please use one of the resources below.

If You Are in Immediate Danger

If you are in immediate danger, feeling unable to keep yourself safe, or experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department right away. Do not wait for a response from our office.

Emergency departments are equipped to provide immediate psychiatric evaluation, stabilization, and medical support when needed.

If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts, emotional distress, or a mental health crisis but are not in immediate physical danger, you can access free and confidential support anytime by calling or texting:

You will be connected with a trained crisis counselor who can provide support, help you stay safe, and connect you with local resources if needed.

This service is available throughout the United States and is free of charge.

When to Use Crisis Services

Crisis services are appropriate if you are experiencing any of the following:

  • Thoughts of harming yourself or others

  • Feeling out of control, overwhelmed, or unable to stay safe

  • Severe emotional distress or panic that feels unmanageable

  • Sudden worsening of depression, anxiety, or mood symptoms

  • Psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations or delusional thinking

  • Any situation where immediate support is needed to ensure safety

If you are unsure whether your situation is an emergency, it is always safer to contact 988 or seek emergency care.

Mobile Crisis and Community Support (Illinois)

In many areas of Illinois, including McHenry County, mobile crisis response services may be available through the 988 system or local behavioral health agencies. These services can provide in-person assessment and support in the community when appropriate.

If needed, 988 crisis counselors can help coordinate these local resources for you.

NMC Wellness Group provides outpatient psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and therapy services by appointment.

We are not an emergency or crisis center and do not provide 24-hour urgent response services. If you are in crisis, please use the resources above or seek immediate in-person care.

For non-urgent concerns, you may contact our office during business hours or send a message through your patient portal, and we will respond as soon as possible.
